Blooming Big: The Quiet Wonder of Flowers 5 - 12 yrs

1 hr 1 Session $25 per Participant

What if a flower could fill your whole world? In this vibrant and imaginative class inspired by American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, children will explore the art of seeing differently—looking closely at the colors, curves, and textures of flowers and transforming them into bold, expressive masterpieces.

In “Blooming Big,” students will dive into sketching and painting their own larger-than-life florals using acrylics, learning how O’Keeffe turned ordinary blossoms into powerful works of art. Along the way, they’ll discover the wonders of observing nature with care, and expressing emotions through color and form.

Intentions:

  • Imagination – encouraging personal artistic voice and freedom

  • Observation – tuning into detail and natural beauty

  • Motor skills – refining control through brushwork and line

  • Emotional growth – using art to express feelings and wonder

  • Creative thinking – exploring composition, contrast, and visual storytelling

Students will also be introduced to other flower-painting artists for added inspiration, leaving with a finished artwork and a new way of seeing the world around them.

All Materials will be supplied.

We’ll be working with some messy (and fun!) materials, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative with. Smocks or aprons are totally optional—but they can be a great extra layer if you’d like!
