Build a portfolio that reflects who you are — as an artist and a thinker.

This supportive and hands-on course is designed for teens who are preparing art portfolios for college admissions. Whether you're just getting started or ready to refine your work, this intensive studio experience will help you grow as both a maker and a creative thinker.

With guidance from experienced teaching artists, you'll explore drawing, painting, and mixed media in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Along the way, you’ll have space to experiment, take creative risks, and develop a body of work that truly represents your unique point of view.

In this course, you will:

  • Strengthen your technical skills while discovering new materials and techniques

  • Work at your own pace with personalized support and feedback

  • Learn how to talk about your art — in your portfolio, artist statement, and interviews

  • Join group critiques that encourage reflection and community

  • Build a thoughtful, well-rounded portfolio that shows growth, curiosity, and individuality

We’ve developed this program to support teens through the creative and sometimes overwhelming process of portfolio development — offering a space that balances structure with freedom, rigor with mindfulness, and discipline with play.

By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of your work, a stronger connection to your creative voice, and a portfolio that’s ready to share with colleges.

All Materials will be supplied.

We’ll be working with some messy (and fun!) materials, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative with. Smocks or aprons are totally optional—but they can be a great extra layer if you’d like!
