Class Description: "Where Light Takes Shape: Creating Glass-Inspired Art"

13-18 yrs 1.5 - 2 hrs 1 or 2 Sessions $35. per Participant

Follow the shimmer of inspiration into a dance of light and form, where color and motion converge in a stunning, hands-on exploration of glass-inspired art. In this class, you’ll discover how to shape and color translucent materials, crafting organic forms that reflect the beauty and fluidity of nature. Using simple tools and vibrant paints, you’ll create delicate, one-of-a-kind pieces that echo the light-catching magic of glass — no heavy equipment or specialized knowledge required.

Inspired by the work of renowned glass artists like Dale Chihuly and Debora Moore, we’ll explore how to transform raw materials into sculptures that seem to float, bend, and shimmer with color. Guided through a step-by-step process, you’ll use heat and water-based paints to mold your creations into stunning forms, each one unique and full of possibility.

This class is designed to be a creative journey for everyone, from beginners to seasoned artists. Whether you’re looking to expand your skills or simply explore the meditative beauty of working with light and color, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of form, material, and the joy of artistic expression.

What You’ll Create:

  • Organic glass-like shapes, inspired by nature and light

  • Translucent, layered colors that change with every angle

  • A personal piece that speaks to your creative vision

Join us for a chance to bend, fold, and shape your ideas — and let them glow.

Class Extension: Ceiling Installation (Optional Add-On)

For those looking to take their experience to the next level, more immersive experience, we offer an optional "Ceiling Installation" extension. This add-on allows you to create multiple smaller pieces that can be suspended together, forming a dynamic and colorful installation that mimics the grandeur of a glass sculpture ceiling.

In this extended session, we’ll guide you through the process of hanging your individual pieces, creating a captivating piece of art that comes to life when viewed as part of a larger, interconnected structure. The extension requires additional materials and a little extra time, so there is a small additional cost to cover the supplies.

If you’re ready to transform your creations into a stunning collective display, this extension is the perfect opportunity to push your artistic vision even further!

All materials are provided, and no prior experience is needed. Artist will leave with a light-catching one-of-a-kind sculpture. A deeper understanding of how to bend, paint, and play with color, light, and form.

We’ll be working with some messy (and fun!) materials, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative with. Smocks or aprons are totally optional—but they can be a great extra layer if you’d like!
