Print, Play & Imagine: A Collagraph Printmaking Exploration
Ages: 5–10 yrs 1 Sessions 1.5 hrs $35
In this playful, hands-on art class, children will discover the magic of turning everyday scraps into beautiful works of art. Using cardboard, textured materials, and paint, young artists will build their own collagraph printing plates — then reveal their creations through the surprising, joyful process of printmaking.
This experience is about more than making pictures — it’s about creative exploration, mindful focus, and full-body engagement. As children cut, glue, roll, and press, they’ll use their hands with intention, ground themselves in the soothing, repetitive motions of printmaking, and find joy in both the process and the unexpected outcomes.
We believe in art as a whole-body, whole-heart experience. Children will be encouraged to slow down, notice textures, follow their curiosity, and embrace happy accidents. Each print becomes a reflection of their choices, discoveries, and creative voice.
Intensions:
Through this playful, hands-on printmaking process, children are:
Using their bodies with purpose — strengthening fine motor skills and coordination as they cut, glue, roll, and press
Grounding themselves in the present moment — immersed in the soothing, repetitive rhythms of inking, layering, and peeling prints
Opening up to curiosity and play — exploring what happens when shapes overlap, textures mix, and surprises appear with every pull of the paper
Building emotional resilience — discovering that the best moments often come from happy accidents, unexpected marks, and playful experimentation
Expressing themselves freely — creating artwork that reflects their choices, their stories, and their inner world
Printmaking encourages a gentle focus, a sense of flow, and an appreciation for process over perfection. It invites children to tune into their senses, find calm in creative play, and enjoy the magic of making.
All materials provided. No experience necessary — just bring your curiosity!
We’ll be working with some messy (and fun!) materials, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative with. Smocks or aprons are totally optional—but they can be a great extra layer if you’d like!
