Felt Your Way to the Center of the Earth 8 to 12 yrs

2 hrs 1 Session or 1 hr 2 Sessions

$60. per Participant

Discover the wonders beneath your feet in this unique, hands-on art and science experience! In this workshop designed for curious minds, students will explore the structure of our planet by creating a colorful, 3D felted Earth ball using the ancient technique of wet felting.

As we build up soft, woolen layers — from the crust to the molten mantle and all the way to the solid inner core — we’ll learn about what makes up each part of the Earth, how it moves, and how it shapes the world we live in. This workshop blends creativity, earth science, and mindful making in a relaxed, supportive environment where kids can slow down, connect with natural materials, and ask big questions about our planet.

Optional Extension: Students can experiment with layered felt landscapes to mimic how tectonic plates shift and form mountains, offering a fun, hands-on demonstration of Earth’s dynamic forces.

Intensions:
Create your own felted Earth ball with visible inner layers
Learn about the Earth’s structure through art and storytelling
Practice mindfulness while working with natural wool fibers
Optional tectonic plate & mountain-building activity
Take home a unique Earth model and new earth science knowledge

No experience necessary — just curiosity and creativity!

We’ll be working with some messy (and fun!) materials, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little creative with. Smocks or aprons are totally optional—but they can be a great extra layer if you’d like!
